THE ONES THAT GOT AWAY

Unfortantly no matter how much we kick, scream and use big buzzwords, some ideas are just not meant to be. Here's a few of ours we're totally not still bitter about...

JUST EAT - WORLD HUNGER DAY REBRAND

JUST EAT is one of the UK’s biggest suppliers of food - delivering near endless amounts of grub to 2.4 million homes each day in just a click a button.

However around the world there still 805 million people who go hungry every day.

So for this world hunger day we wanted Just Eat to try bring attention to the millions left hungry by rebranding as ‘Can’t Eat’ across all platforms for the day -  As a add on customers would also be able to add a food package donation to take away order of which JE would match.

It was ambitious but we’re not really sure what happened to this one.

Paris-recast

PARIS RECAST - GOOGLE

During WW2 Paris had many of it’s culturally significant bronze statues melted down for bullets by the Nazis. The Paris Recast project would restore the lost monuments to their rightful places in the city using Google Maps. The ‘Street view’ feature would allow users to view the statues as if they were standing right in front of them as well as learn of their historical past.

The idea was presented to 'Google France' with the possibility of collaborating with the Lourve. After a few meetings things looked promising but the trail went cold.

KLINGON BUDS - GOOGLE / NETFLIX

Netflix’s latest series ‘Star Trek Discovery’ was to due to launch the same month as Google’s ‘Pixel Buds’ - headphones that can translate languages in real time. So in a bid to make every Trekkies wet dream come true we tried to make ‘Klingon’ an active translatable language on the headphones. This would have been accompanied by online ads all in Klingon for wearers to translate.

Netflix took the idea to Google but I’m not entirely sure what happened to it.

THE 1864 COLLECTION - WWF

WWF approached us in doing something different for the panda collection in their online store - a place they usually sell novelty animal themed tote bags and mugsto raise money. Since there is only 1,864 pandas left in the wild we came up with ‘The 1864 Collection’ - a limited edition collection of highly sought after products made in collaboration with leading designers and makers. The total editions and items would equate to 1,864 with each product beautifully reflecting the black and white coat of the panda. These would be sold in a pop up store inside Selfridges.

This one was well received and seemed promising right up until someone decided novelty tote bags were still cool.

SPEAK LIKE THE QUEEN - NETFLIX

Watching The Crown and not doing an impersonation of the Queen’s english is physically impossible. Fact.

To play into this phenomenon, a secret easter egg would be hidden within Google Home. When people spoke to it in the Queen’s English it’s usual robotic voice would be replaced by the Queen’s (Claire Foy) who would take the user through a gamified royal etiquette lesson (even teaching them to speak like the Queen properly). A OOH campaign would seed out the easter egg to the public.

This was one of the ideas that won us the pitch but never came to be - In the end Netflix wanted Google to pay, Google wanted Netflix to pay and I literally just wanted somebody to pay.

DINE APART FOR TWO - NETFLIX

Elizabeth and Phillips troubled marriage is major plot point of ‘The Crown’ S2. To bring light to this the ‘Dine Apart for Two’ meal range would be featured on the shelves of Britain’s favourite grocer, Marks and Spencer. A twist on the well-known ‘M&S Dine In For Two’ promotion, these royal twin-pack meals are designed for those who prefer to eat separately reflecting the stormy relationship of the shows royal couple.

This was the other idea that won us The Crown pitch. Sadly the partnership was too difficult to achieve with the time limits but we got to watch the crown S2 early so we’ll let them off.
