ODE TO BAD

giffgaff

I’d love to take the credit for writing this dystopian masterpiece but that glory goes to the brain of Liam Crerar.

I stepped in when this script was but a manifesto to birth and raise it, into the turbulent little terror it became.

Giffgaff, the UK’s fastest-growing phone network, wanted to stick it to their morally bankrupt competitors, who’d institutionalised a culture of treating their customers and the planet like shit in the name of keeping shareholders and pockets sweet.

In other words, they’re bad dudes.

And the very inspiration for ‘Ode to Bad’.

An allegory to setting an example of precisely what not to do, (if you know, you want to be a decent person or phone network).

Once director Nick Ball threw his hat into the ring, we were plain sailing towards a whirlwind of dark humour and darker nights in set location Croydon.

I like to think back to what Nick said to us when this idea was green-lit.

“Careful what you wish for guys…”

And all in all, I’m glad we wished for this.
