Yo Adrian, we did it…
I’m not quite sure where to begin with Rockymania so I’ll start with some stats:
15000 hours of rotoscoping to place a new world into the original sequence (nearly 2years crammed into 3months).
1 state of the art camera rig developed specifically to achieve this feat (and now going on to pioneer Hollywood films)
A scale 1:1 set build of Phlilidephia recreated in Budapest (inch by inch).
A 30-piece orchestra flying high in Abbey Road studios.
And 1 Hollywood legend signing it all off.
So I repeat… Yo Adrian! We…did…It!
The full story? Well, it’s a true underdog epic (boxing analogies incoming):
Off the back of Drummers and Balloon, we knew we needed to go even bigger for Ladbrokes in 2022.
The idea had been floated of a Marvel-inspired ‘World of Play'. A cinematic universe of Ladbroke characters all interlinked.
Only we needed something bigger to launch them into the zeitgeist.
And who better to lead the charge than the man who blurs the line between sports and entertainment. Rocky.
Hailed as one of the most iconic sequences in Hollywood history, we knew messing with Rocky’s run would be a delicate matter.
In fact, most told us it was technically impossible to pull off.
But with the combo punch of Sly agreeing to the concept. Blockbuster Director 'Nicolai Fulsig’ joining our corner and VFX start-up ‘Selected Works’ throwing haymakers… the tide turned.
When the final bell rang. We had achieved a world's-first in Hollywood production. A knockout blockbuster film garnering millions of views … and had skyrocketed Ladbrokes ‘World of Play’ to front OOH, Radio ads and even interactive Snapchat games.
